For starters, a little bit about me…
I was born and raised on the northwest side of Chicago. It was instilled in me to be very shy and timid. This shyness led to much heartbreak and disappointments in life do to lack of self-confidence, which lead to not taking any risks in life. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize during those early years that risk taking is apart of success and failure is a stepping stone to your success in life.
The reason I share this with you is because life is not always easy. Life was very difficult to live this way. Too many opportunities passed me by simply because I didn’t want to fail at them.
I went onto William Rainy Harper College to earn my Associates Degree in Business Administration and finished my Bachelors Degree in Accounting at Illinois State University. School was not easy for me. I struggled through grade school and on through high school. So, I’m sure you can imagine that college wasn’t much easier. Although, it was then that I really and truly started to apply some effort into earning my degrees.
After leaving college, I went to work for a major computer leasing company in the Chicago land area. I became a Tax Accountant and after 2 years, I started to realize I was spending more leisure time learning how to program computers than I was spending time brushing up on my FASB(Financial Accounting Standards Board) rules. This eventually led me to go back to school to earn a Computer Science Degree. However, do to the boom in computers and networking in the late eighties and nineties, which led to the creation of the internet, I changed careers into the computing consulting industry and found myself working 70+ hours a week. So, I did not complete my Computer Science Degree.
The Unthinkable Happened…
Fast forward now to the year 2000. I made a six figure income during the computer consulting years and I made some small, smart choices on a monthly basis to invest in the stock market. However, when the year 2000 came along it was time for the market to move downward and it did move downward at a fairly rapid pace. Unfortunately, I was not knowledgeable enough to know what was happening and did not protect myself on the downside. So, I’m sure you know where this is leading to. I lost 90% of my financial wealth that took me 13 years to build. Imagine the devastation. When I look back on those times I was not mentally prepared to handle such an event in my life. To add to that devastation, in early 2001 my Mother was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer.
I decided at this point to accept less and less work so I can put more attention to helping my mother with here diagnosis. My father was already retired and he did 95% of the care giving during those days. Unfortunately, my Mother lost her battle to cancer 3 years later. At that time I was making about one third of my normal income that I was receiving in the year 2000.
The bad news didn’t stop there. During the later stages of my mother’s life, my Fathers heart bypass that he had done some 18 years prior started to fail along with his heart valve. To add to that, his prostate cancer reappeared. And, this time it was spreading into the bones. I decided then to sell my home and move in with my Father because I knew in my heart the battle my Father would have to endure and I couldn’t bare to have him endure it alone. So, in October of 2004 my Father had to have an emergency double by-pass and heart valve replacement. During his one month stay in the hospital to recover from that he could not be treated for his spreading prostate cancer. By this time I was 100% care giver for him on through the end of his life in April of 2006.
Now it was time to figure out how to take care of myself…
It took me almost two years to figure things out and start earning a living again. During those two years some how I intuitively figured out that I needed to read self-development books from Napoleon Hill, Bob Proctor, Brian Tracy, Andrew Carnegie, Jim Rohn, John C. Maxwell and the list can go on. And, even today, the list will go on for the rest of my life on this earth because I know the value and purpose for self-education.
After delving deeply into personal development, I realized that all the books I’ve read to that point were never available through our traditional school systems. No classes were ever taught on ‘how to think.’ We were taught what to think, but no mention was ever made on how a human being should think to attract what we desire in life.
Now It’s Time To Earn A Living Again….
Through reading and studying personal development, I came across Bob Proctor and his book You Were Born Rich. It was then I looked further into what Bob did and learned of a training he was doing. Through his training I learned the value of what he was contributing to this world for the past 40 years. It was then I decided to become a personal development coach. This entrepreneurial spirit began to stir inside of me and I knew that I wanted to control my own destiny. It has not been a smooth ride in the business world. However, it’s extremely rewarding because I’m growing into a much more powerful human being and I’m assisting other individuals to seek to be the best they can be.
Harnessing The Power of The Internet…
I am fortunate to have been born in an era where we all can be connected to the rest of this world through the powerful medium called the Internet. The world was brought much closer together at the beginning of the last century through the discovery of air travel. The discovery of the Internet made the world that much smaller and closer for everyone.
My commitment to success and discipline is my top priority in business and in my personal life and through building lasting and genuine relationships.
The importance for social media is critical to any form of business, in any industry. That’s why I continue to enhance my skills in this area through training by the best people in this industry. I’m now in a position to empower other individuals and businesses of the value of this medium and how they can harness this technology to attract the right resources to grow themselves and their businesses.
Being a success online and offline comes from my dedication and core commitment to excellence in any area of my life through personal development. In order for me to grow I must grow through acquiring new skills and applying those skills on a daily basis and then transferring those skills to other people.
Why Am I Here?
I know I have a desire to be great. But I also know that I have a much greater desire to instill greatness in other people. Some how and some where the world needs to realize that personal development must be included in their curriculum. Where I am today personally and professionally is because of self-development. This reminds me of a quote from Jim Rohn. He said “formal education will make you a living; self-education will make you a fortune.” Self-education is self-development. You must constantly work on yourself to grow from where you are today to where you want to go. It doesn’t matter if you’re the highest paid person in your industry or the lowest paid person. Remember what Raymond Holliwell said – “There can be no progress without change, no growth without renewal. There must be a constant stream of new thought, better thought, and truer thought to insure progression in life.”
Too many people live in fear and accept mediocrity as a part of life because they feel they weren’t meant to achieve more than what they have at the present. A new and better life was meant to experienced by all, not just a few. It all comes down to our predominant thoughts and actions. Every thing in your physical world first began as a thought in someone’s mind. It could not exist in our physical world without that thought. So the question is “Are you controlled by your thoughts or are you controlling your thoughts?” The realities we experience in our lives are directly proportionate to every thought, action and feeling we allow to happen.
