How Will Reading Books Impact Your Future?

“People are anxious to improve their circumstances, but are unwilling to improve themselves; they therefore remain bound.” James Allen, author of As A Man Thinketh

Hundred’s of thousands of dollars a year are allocated towards clothing, cosmetics and many other items for the purpose to change or improve our outward appearance. Unfortunately, very few dollars in comparison to the number stated above are allocated towards improving our inward condition. Did you know that many people spend hours a day brushing, bathing, flossing and shaving the outside and then find every reason in the world not to spend a few minutes a day to improve the inside?
We have a mind that can generate many thoughts per minute, per hour, per day and those thoughts will determine the life we will have. In order to have a richer and fuller life, you must focus on developing habits that will change your thoughts. Newer, richer and more abundant thoughts will constantly attract to you the necessary resources you need to lead the life you desire. Reading books is one sure fire way to not only change predominant thoughts, but you will also acquire those newer thoughts along your journey.
Read More Books
By listening to an audio training by Jim Rohn I was able to attract a new resource that confirms building a library of the right books is crucial for anyone to acquire the abundance you need in every area of your life. This new resource is the founder of Executive books, Charlie “Tremendous” Jones. Since his passing, Executive Books is now called Tremendous Life Books. Here is what Charlie said, “You are today the same you’ll be in five years from now, except for two things: the people you meet and the books you read. The people you meet can’t always be with you, but what you read in books can remain with you a life time. How often we hear of individuals who began a new era in their lives from the reading of a single book.”

I’ll give you one of probably a million examples of how reading books can and will impact your future and how this one example impacted the ones who choose self-education. As Jim Rohn says “Formal education will make you a living; self-education will make you a fortune.” Since I’m a subscriber to SUCCESS Magazine, I was introduced to the book SUCCESS for Teens.  In the preface to this book it was mentioned that “sometimes one book can make all the difference in your life.” This was so true for Stuart Johnson, who at age 15 was given a book titled The Magic of Thinking Big, by David Schwartz. This one book began his own personal development journey. This book led him to read other classics like Think and Grow Rich, by Napoleon Hill, Success Through A Positive Mental Attitude, by W. Clement Stone, and many others. Through his journey of reading books, Stuart discovered “that working on himself first best prepared him to take on the challenges of business and life.” Today, he is a highly successful businessman, the owner of VideoPlus, L.P., SUCCESS Media, SUCCESS magazine and the founder of the SUCCESS Foundation.

Why do you think Donald Trump, Robert Kiyosaki, write books? Why do you think Mark Victor Hansen and Jack Canfield co-authored the Chicken Soup for the Soul book series? They write books because of the value they can bring to someone’s life. They write books because they understand they bring much needed education to our world that the traditional school systems don’t provide. Learning is a never ending process. No matter who you are and no matter what your financial position is in life, you can always grow from where you are today. Learning doesn’t stop when you graduate from school.

Why not start a new habit today? Do you know what you can accomplish by spending fifteen minutes every day before retiring at night and upon rising reading from a personal development book or a biography of someone you admire can do for you in a year? At the end of one year you will have read about 12 books. At the end of five years you will have read about 60 books.

Remember this from Aldous Huxley, “Every person who knows how to read has it in their power to magnify themselves, to multiply the ways in which they exist, to make their life full, significant, and interesting.”

Just imagine the new thoughts, vision and possibilities you will have by taking a few minutes a day to read a book that will improve your inner appearance. Remember your outer appearance is in direct proportion to your inner appearance.
